Rakhi and the Market | poem on Rakhi

A short poem by Shreya Bansal

A poem on Raksha Bandhan and cheer in market during that time

Brief Introduction: This poem written by Shreya Bansal, is a poem on the festival of Rakhi. Mostly when we talk about Rakhi it is usually about the bond of love between sister and brother, but here the poem focuses on the energy and happiness that comes with Rakhi and that is visible in the markets. It is just an ode to the spirited market around Rakhi.

When rakhi comes near,
The market is filled with joy and cheer.
Rakhis and lumbaas selling everywhere,
There’s happiness in the air.

I can see smiling faces of people,
Buying sweets and gifts ,colourful and simple.
And mehendi fragrance is so ambient,
Indeed is  Rakhi a festival, so variant.
